When the request to be, interviewed by the Pop Culture podcast, was presented to me we were only about a week into the strike. Now, if you do not live in Los Angeles, then please know it was an extremely HOT period of time. Yes, there was a chant rippling across America due to all of the strike actions occurring calling it the, #HotLaborSummer. Yes, indeed it was, but what it really was…was just DAMN hot outside. In just that short amount of time, we already had instances of picketing union members and Strike/Gate captains passing out.

Hollywood tends to be viewed as the land of the young and pretty. Funny, how the idea of being talented is used a lot when and agent or casting director is not interested in you but “young and pretty” is what’s so often the focus early on. Unfortunately, in many ways, the old cliché, “Youth is wasted on the young”, reared its ugly head a lot during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA TV/Theatrical contract negotiations. The small shock of it for me, when you juxtaposed youth with this negotiation we’re currently in, was how odd and terrifying A.I. was viewed.

Take a moment, step back regardless of age, and think about all of the truly “big decisions” you’ve had to make to this point in your life. More often than not, depending on your age, most folks land between 5-10 decisions. Ironically, what I’ve found in my life, is that I tended to think decisions were larger than they really were when I was younger. That’s honestly not as a cheap shot if you’re under 30, it’s merely meant to remind us all that the less amount of life you’ve lived, the more many big decisions have simply yet to infringe upon your path.
